What was one of the most challenging experiences during your training to become a therapist? How did you overcome the challenge, and what did you learn from it?
In supervision, it was a challenge to keep in check my feelings in order to analyze and explore severe cases in a very objective manner. I gained the ability to explore further with individuals who were difficult, resistant, and complex. Due to a structured and challenging supervision experience, it helped me overcome barriers to better address and treat client’s with low to high acuity mental illness.
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
Initially working with teens for an undergraduate internship, which strongly inspired me to help other’s in need with compassion and understanding. Since then, I’ve gained a vast experience working with clients, mostly adults struggling with mental health, addiction, family issues, trauma, forensic involved, and from all walks of life.
What does a typical session with you look like?
Warm and organic, in a safe and therapeutic environment where the client is able to learn, evolve, and heal at their own pace.
How have your personal experiences helped your work with your clients?
Learning from my personal mistakes, turning failures into success. No matter how many times we fall getting up is the only option. This has helped me to engage, build trust, and instill hope and optimism to my clients to evolve and heal.
