Meet Crystal Sanchez

Hi there! Welcome to this space. I pursued graduate studies and completed my doctorate in psychology. As a mental health therapist (and intuitive) it is an absolute joy to aid my clients in their healing process and find deep wisdom within. I truly believe that healing is done on a mind, body, and soul level.

What would your clients and colleagues say is your therapist superpower?

My clients would say that my therapist superpower is my ability to create a safe, anchoring space and expand their level of awareness to deeper levels all at the same time.

What is one thing that you have learned through your own therapy?

One thing that I have learned in my own therapy is that we can find what I like to call the “golden nuggets” in the darkest of moments. And once we do, life starts to transform in ways that we would have never thought possible.

What does a typical session with you look like?

A typical session with me looks like you and I briefly checking in about the day or week before since we last met, you sharing what was new or different about insights you may have noticed, going in depth about a new insight if it’s helpful for you, and then moving along with our goals together. I usually explore the mind, body, and soul connections that you may have made as I notice that these tend show up once we dive into the healing process.

Is there an example from your daily life where you practice what you preach?

Intentional down time is absolutely necessary when it comes to self-care. Taking care of my body by engaging in a daily yoga routine and drinking one glass of water is essential to start off on a good note. I also love to burn sage, palo santo, light incense, and read a soul enriching book to recharge my battery.

Therapy Styles

Short Term (Solution-focused, etc.)
Ideal for those who are coming in with a specific problem they’d like to address and gain clarity on. Typically, short term therapies are present focused and do not dive deep into your past.

Structured
Structured therapies are goal and progress oriented. Therapists may incorporate psychoeducation and a specific “curriculum.” In order to stay on track, therapists may provide worksheets and homework.

Insight-oriented (Psychodynamic, Existential, etc.)
Exploring the past and making connections to present issues can help clients gain insight. Getting to the root of the issue and finding deeper self-awareness can help with long-term change.

Non-directive (Humanistic, Person-centered, etc.)
Going with the flow and seeing where it leads.

Behavioral (CBT, DBT, etc.)
Focuses on changing potentially unhealthy or self-destructive behaviors by addressing problematic thought patterns and specific providing coping skills.

Trauma Focused (EMDR, TF-CBT, etc.)
Recognizing the connection between trauma experiences and your emotional and behavioral responses, trauma focused therapy seeks to help you heal from traumas.
